I always seem to sleep better at a motel than I do in my bed at home. I’ve rarely had noisy neighbors or loud people in the room above, but there’s just something about the whole overnight away-from-home scenario:

  • Sleeping alone in a queen bed allows much greater mobility than a twin bed
  • Soothing sound of the air-conditioner/heater – its almost as good as white noise
  • Often become more tired after a day of travel, business meetings, sporting event, or sightseeing
  • The pillows may or may not be firm enough, but there’s usually a winning combination
  • The mandatory TV watching before falling asleep helps you relax
  • The door locks feel stronger than those at home and therefore you may feel more protected, since the only entrance into the room is secure (especially if you’re on an upper-level)
  • Dreams of the free continental breakfast rarely turn into nightmares
