At least brief titles (ie. Twilight) doesn't mean the looks department is lacking

Last year (2008) was hands down the year of the simple film title. More likely than not, successful movies had one word names. Many opted for the ‘The Single Noun’ format. Members of this group include The Reader, The Wrestler, The Changeling, and Milk. Others simply went for the ultimate in brevity: Wall-E, Twilight, W.,  and Hancock.

If you though the trend of short movie titles was over, think again. This coming weekend you can find not one or two, but seven movies with simple noun titles. Opening this weekend are:

  • Earth
  • Fighting
  • Obsessed
  • The Soloist
  • The Garden
  • The Informers
  • Tyson

Single titles are fine and classic, but what would Star Wars be with ‘The’ in front? The Star Wars sounds just plain wrong.
