André Tanneberger has come a long way since his rise to fame more than a decade ago. Since then he has released, on average, an album every year and a half (quite the feat for someone who spends plenty of time on the road). His current sound may be slightly less mainstream trance than 10 years ago, but it still retains ATB’s trademark sound. I’m not sure if his new album and music video can match his work from 2002-2004, but we will know for sure when the album is released later this week.
Some brief words on the upcoming album Future Memories:
Unlike the last album, which was very much based on classic songwriting and real instruments, Future Memories has more of a focus on keyboards and synthesizers again. I wanted to get back to my roots in electronic sounds, ATB continues. Future Memories contains 26 tracks on two CDs. One with driving, melodic club music, the other in a more ambient style. The album won’t be promoted in the old-fashioned way, and a single won’t be released before the album. Instead, there’ll be three tracks released at the same time (two of which are “What About Us” and “L.A. Nights”) to represent the main album, and all three of them are going to have their own music videos. Also, 4 tracks on the album are going to have more than 160 bpm (which is uncommon in ATB’s songs).
Be on the lookout for ATB when he comes to the U.S. for the Electric Daisy Carnival in July, and again in October on his world tour. As a sidenote, you have to love how many European music videos are filmed in the United States (this one was recorded in Miami). I always find it interesting how even German vocal trance songs have English lyrics. It must be something to do with either marketing or just the feel of the language.
