Ooh, the possibilities. As the bandwidth of electromagnetic gateways increases, so do the possibilities of transportation into an alternate universe. From EurekAlert:

In the research paper, the researchers from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Fudan University in Shanghai describe the concept of a “a gateway that can block electromagnetic waves but that allows the passage of other entities” like a “‘hidden portal’ as mentioned in fictions.”

Potentially, the gateway could block all visible light and can even be remotely controlled. Just another reason why metamaterials (creating objects on an atomic rather than chemical level) will make millions in the next century.
